Warner Music Group Revenues Down

As I read the story in the WSJ today, I was not surprise that the record industry is losing money. If what I saw on the American Music Awards was any indication of what the record industry has to offer, it is no wonder that sales are down. In my humble "Guru opinion" the music was pitiful. Maybe that is why so may people are turning to the indie artist for good music. Listeners need to know that there is better out there than what is on the radio. My favorite music comes from a podcast call indiestop10.com. Mike Cameo plays some of the best music and it fresh and new. Not the same old thing that you hear over and over again the terrestrial radio.

I know that radio is important for record sales and we all would like our music played on major radio stations. But are we willing to sell our talent to what the record industry wants. The majors labels have no idea what's going on, most of them are still trying to figure out e-mail. What you need to understand about commercial radio is that THEY are telling YOU what kind of music and artists you are supposed to like, based on their airplay lists. Think about it! When was the last time you had anything to say about the artists featured? Is it based on sales that an artist receives airplay as a favorite, or is it based on radio push that an artist has sales? Does this sound like the chicken and egg logic?

With all of the listening options available to you now, take the time to listen to music other than what is on the radio. If you want to make a difference you first need to be different. Be like no one else so you will be noticed.
